SO, I made it to oberhof! Woohoo! I left Obertilliach on Monday morning with two Norwegians, Lars Berger and his gilfriend Lenne. We drove 7 hours up Germany to Oberhof, which is a small tourist town. I absolutely love it. The hotel is really nice and the food is delicious. The course is pretty 'heavy' as Krystyna Palka put it, and it describes it perfectly. I have two great reasons why I think Oberhof is great. 1) I have a coach here! Petr Zidek arrived on monday night. He is my coach in Canada and was able to come here for the next 3 world cups. It is amazing having an english speaking coach. We can even have a conversation and it makes sense, usually. Reason 2) I went searching for some durchbad (shower gel) and I got the last bottle of....Neuseeland (New Zealand)- Manuka honey body wash! ITS A SIGN! and if its not a sign, then at least it makes me smell delicious and like New Zealand! 1 point for Sarah! These are some picture from Oberhof. It is very chilly but absolutely beuatiful. Oh, I also went to the opening ceremonies and walked out in front of many many people all alone with the New Zealand flag. The huge Norwegian team went in front of me, and the huge Polish team was behind me. And then there was 1. And it was hilarious and lots of fun. Woo! Go team New Zealand!
So, stay awesome! Smile, have fun, dance, prance, and stay warm!
Watching the Oberhof races via British Eurosport - awesome atmosphere there by the look of it! Have a fantastic time and best of luck for the racing :)
